Profiled Pennsylvania Foundations Database

As of January 2008 the number of complete foundation profile-entries in the database exceeds 1,700. To view a sample profile-entry CLICK HERE. The database Includes all foundations profiled in the Directory of Pennsylvania Foundations, 7th Edition. In addtion, profiles of over 100 newly-formed Pennsylvania foundations are now available! And, several hundred additional new foundations have been identified and profile-entries will be posted within coming months.

Criteria for Inclusion -- To be profiled a foundation must meet (in most cases) the following criteria:

    - Assets at Market Value of $250,000 or greater in most recent year of record, and/or

    - Discretionary Grants Awarded total $10,000 or more, and
    - Meets The Foundation Center's definition of a Private Foundation, i.e., "a nongovernmental,

nonprofit organization, with funds (usually from a single source, either an individual, a family, or corporation)

and program managed by its own trustees or director, and established to maintain or aid social, educational,

charitable, religious, or other activities serving the common welfare, primarily through the making of grants.

Charitable trusts are included as well as community foundations which receive funds from many sources.”

Update policy: The Executive Editor's earnest intention is to have profile-entry data never more than two years old. Sometimes this is problematical because foundations delay in filing 990-PFs and IRS has its glitches. As of January 2008, over 200 full or partially updated profile-entries have been posted. If a subscriber has a particular need for more current information about a specific foundation, contact the Executive Editor. Click on the Feedback button above -- we will assist as time allows.
